Train up a child . . .

Kedesh itself has been built bit by bit by John and the boys, including building a water tower and installing pipes for running water (something that’s still rare in this area). In all of the bamboo mud huts, dirt floors have been replaced with proper building materials. We have part of one building to complete.  This is the house for the boys who are about to leave Kedesh in the coming year. It gives them a bit more privacy, freedom and preparation for independent living. We call it the, ‘You’re outta here’, house.  It is a way to put the boys on notice by giving them more privacy and rights, that they are on the edge of independent living and need to prepare themselves. That means look for work, fend for themselves, decide what they want to do with life. The transition that has been difficult for some, easy for others.
